The Giants didn’t release jersey-sale numbers. They released Odell.

New York sports will sell you hope faster than it can sell you a hot dog. And for a few months, Odell Beckham Jr. was hope again.

The Giants brought OBJ back this summer on a one-year, $1.3 million veteran-minimum deal with no guaranteed money. Immediately, the nostalgia machine started printing.

Number 13. Giants blue. Beckham back in New York.

You could already picture it: one more slant taken 70 yards. One more ridiculous catch. One more MetLife Stadium moment.

Instead?

Football is temporary.

Inventory is forever.

Now, before somebody calls the Better Business Bureau, there’s obviously no evidence the Giants signed Beckham just to sell some jerseys. The football logic wasn’t crazy either. There was essentially no guaranteed-money risk, and this is still Odell Beckham Jr.—one of the most electric players the Giants have had this century.

Social media chatter has thrown around a $7 million figure connected to Beckham jersey sales, but there’s no publicly verified sales report supporting that number. What we do know is that the Giants shop is currently advertising 25% off savings.

Which somehow makes the whole story even funnier.

NYC will forever love OBJ.

But three games? One target. Zero catches.

Maybe we’ll never know exactly how many jerseys moved. But somewhere in the Giants’ accounting department, somebody knows exactly what the Odell reunion was worth.

The Giants got the reunion. Fans got the nostalgia. Retailers got fresh OBJ merchandise.

Everybody got something.

Except Odell.

He didn’t get the ball….
